Assembly Instructions
1) Take the 4 – 1/4” – 20 x 1.5” pan head machine screws and install the 4 - 1/4" – 20 SS thin jam nuts. Install 2 of the assembled bolts and screw them into the center hole of the 2 – 2” x 5/8” square bar with 3 tapped holes. Install 2 of the assembled bolts and screw them into the center 2 holes of the 5” x 5/8” square bar with 4 tapped holes.
2) Assemble together the 2 dovetail bars to the main base plate. You will notice 3 countersunk holes near the center of the base plate use these hole positions to install the dovetail bar with no countersunk side holes. Assemble the dovetail bar so the flange portion of the dovetail bar is flat against the bottom of the base plate using 3 – 1/4" – 20 X 7/8” SS flat head socket drive machine screws with 3 – 1/4" SS internal tooth lock washers use a good anti seize compound on the threads of the bolts. Tighten these fasteners be careful not to over tighten and strip the socket head machine screw, as you tighten the bolts the internal tooth washers will compress to fit the countersunk hole.
Install the dovetail bar with the countersunk pockets in the countersunk holes that are slotted, the countersunk pockets will face towards the outside of the base mount plate. Install this bar using 3 – 1/4" – 20 X 7/8” SS flat head socket drive machine screws, tighten these machine screws then back them off ¼ turn. Do not put ant seize or lock washers on at this time.
3) Assemble the 2 – 2” x 5/8” square bars onto the base plate using 2 – 1/4" – 20 X 7/8” SS flat head socket drive machine screws with 2 – 1/4" SS internal tooth lock washers use a good anti seize compound on the threads of the bolts. The grub bolts should be left loose and backed out at this point. The head of the machine screw grub bolt should point out. Use the two holes adjacent to the end holes of the dovetail bar.
4) From the underside you will now install two stop bolts with aluminum spacers. Using 2 - 1/4" – 20 X ¾” SS button head socket drive machine screws and 2 – 1/2" x 1/2" aluminum spacers. Locate the 2 tapped holes at the end of the installed dovetail rails towards the front of the base plate. Place a spacer on each bolt and some anti seize on the threads tighten each bolt with spacer.
5) Install the 5” x 5/8” square bar with 4 tapped holes. This bar is held in place with 1/4" – 20 X 1 ¼” SS hex bolt and the 1/4" – 20 SS thin nyloc nut. One end of the bar is a non-threaded hole; pass the bolt through this hole so that the grub screw tips are facing towards the center of the mount. Use the hole at the edge of the base plate nearest the dog leg of the bracket with the nyloc nut facing up. Tighten the nut tight then barely back it off so the bar rotates freely.
6) Adjusting the base plate to mount plate fit off the boat prior to mounting the boat mount plate. Slide the base mount into the Anchor Locker base plate so the base mount is resting against the stop bolts with spacers. The movable dove tail bar should be loose enough to tighten the grub screws by hand removing all play from the fit. Tighten the locking nuts on the grub screws. The base mount should be fairly tight and need to be tapped out to unseat it. Not so tight you have to beat it out. The fit is meant to be a slight interference fit not a loose fit. Swing the bar into place and use the 1/4" – 20 x ¾” SS thumb screw to secure the 5” bar in place. Tighten the grub screws against the mounting plate and tighten the lock nuts on the grub screws. Now tighten the 3 – 1/4" – 20 X 7/8” holding the dovetail bar with the slotted holes. Check the fit between the base mount and the base plate you should need to give the base mount a little tap to separate the 2 parts.
After you have the fit right remove the bolts one at a time holding the dovetail bar with the slotted holes and put anti seize on the threads and the 3 – 1/4" SS internal tooth lock washers on these bolts.
7) Install the rope jam cleat. Using the 5” x 1.27” x 3/8” aluminum oval spacer and the Rope Jam cleat. Place the spacer against the base plate you may need to turn the nyloc nut on the hold down bar to line up the holes properly. Place the rope jam cleat on the spacer and use the 2 - 1/4" – 20 x 1” SS flat head socket drive machine screws you can either use anti seize on the thread or some thread locking compound on the threads. Make sure the rope jam cleat is facing the right direction to grip the rope.
8) Attach the Anchor Locker using the 4 - 1/4" – 20 X 5/8” SS hex bolts, 4 - 1/4" SS split lock washers & 4 - 1/4" SS round washers. Place the split ring lock washer on the bolt first with the flat washer next use anti seize thread compound on the threads.
